Under the Live Local Act developers can:
* Flip commercial, industrial, or mixed-use property to high-density, multi-family, low-income housing
* Height of buildings can be the same height of any other building within a one mile radius
And all done WITHOUT going through the local County Commission process

LUXURY STUDENT APARTMENTS GET MILLIONS IN SUBSIDIES
#1 HIGHER PAY
If we truly valued our first responders and teachers, we would pay them more! For me, they are absolutely worth it!
#2 QUALITY HOME ON A STREET
In the past, St. Johns County built quality homes on a street with no CDD or HOA fees. Houses could be built without all the extra requirements - such as; amenity centers, large signage, larger cul-de-sacs, etc.
This option has been estimated at 25% less for that home.
#3 MISSISSIPPI STATE TINY HOMES
Mississippi State College partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build tiny homes for teachers on school property.
#4 MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA LAW ENFORCEMENT
Monroe County built barracks on their sheriff’s property for law enforcement new hires.
(These 4 options do come with a cost - but I would rather see funding towards quality solutions instead of $800+ million attached to the Live Local Act that erodes our Home Rule.)
NOTE: This is about taking away the option for our county and citizens to deny developers excessive building.
